The sustainability of Hip Hop cannot be separated from the well-being of the people creating it.  Hip Hop has shaped global culture, commerce, and identity, yet the emotional and psychological sustainability of the people behind the music is rarely addressed.

In 90 minutes, attendees will gain a more honest understanding of the pressures behind the culture, hear insights from artists, executives, and mental health professionals navigating those realities in real time and better understand where real support exists today.

Explore the hidden pressures within the music industry, including

    • Touring Burnout
    • Financial Instability
    • Performance Expectations + Public Scrutiny in the Digital Age
    • Grief and Community Trauma
    • Challenges Around Therapy Access and Stigma

This conversation also looks toward accountability—examining the role institutions can play in better supporting the well-being of the creative community.

As part of its ongoing work to support the music community, the Recording Academy is hosting this conversation to address an area that has long been under-discussed but widely experienced.

This program is presented in partnership by the Recording Academy New York Chapter, the Black Music Collective, and Hip Hop, Are You Okay? for New York Music Month.
